Pen box in American Walnut and Ash

This box is traditionally made in two contrasting timbers. American Black Walnut and English Ash. The box has a single dovetail on the sides and the lid is hinged on a brass rod which will allow natural movement of the wood. The interior of the box has been left natural with the exception of the pen holders which is lined with Moire to protect the pen and it has an additional groove for spare cartriges. The box is opened with a single turned dowel on the front and the bottom is a solid piece of American Black Walnut and then finished with natural bees wax.

The price for the individual box is £55 and the Junior Gentleman Fountain pen in Maple is £45

   

Reed box

This small box made from lime using mitre and spline construction then veneered in poplar burr and ebony detail. The box is used to store reeds for a clarinet and only measures 9cms long (3.5 inches). I can veneer a variety of woods onto a box or if you require I can apply metal or stone inlay. Solid wood Keepsake boxes

These are all solid wood traditionally dovetailed boxes made from contrasting woods showing the beautiful contrast of the very dark American Walnut and the pale cream Sycamore Elm and Wych Elm and Oak and Brown Oak. The box is hinged on a wooden dowel and a tongue of wood from the top is used as a handle. The interior sides of the box have been left unlined and have been waxed with natural bees wax. The interior bottom of the box has been lined with a thick 3mm honey coloured natural leather. The whole box has then had several layers of Bees wax and 'Renaissance' wax applied (this wax is used by the British museum to protect their valuable antiques). The base is lined with a blue baize. The boxes measures Total length....22.5cms. Width....14cms. Depth ...9cms. Internal measurements are..Length....20cms. Width....11.5cms. Depth...8.5cms.

An additional tray can be added for an additional charge of £10 and these will be made using mitres and inlaid keys.
