American Black Walnut and English Sycamore Keepsake box

This is a solid wood traditional dovetailed box made from contrasting woods showing the beautiful contrast of the very dark American Walnut and the pale cream Sycamore. The box is hinged on a wooden dowel and a tongue of wood from the top is used as a handle. The interior sides of the box have been left unlined and have been waxed with natural bees wax. The interior bottom of the box has been lined with a thick 3mm honey coloured natural leather. The whole box has then had several layers of 'Renaissance' wax applied (this wax is used by the British museum to protect their valuable antiques). The base is lined with a blue baize.

The box measures Total length....22.5cms. Width....14cms. Depth ...9cms.

Internal measurements are..Length....20cms. Width....11.5cms. Depth...8.5cms

   

English Oak with Burr Oak box inlay

A handmade mitred English Oak box with a central panel of Burr oak. The mitres are strengthened with Brown Oak feathers. The interior of the box has been partially lined with a blue moire and the tray holding the pen set is made from Brown Oak. The knob for the lid is Somerset Bog Oak. The price does not include the pen set which can be made to the customers requirements.

   

Holm Oak Box with a Holm Oak lid and Pen set

A double pen set made from Holm Oak. The main body and floating panel in the bottom are made from the main body of a Holm Oak brought down outside Bridport in the storms of 2007 and to compliment the box I used wood from the root for the lid. The pen set is Spalted Willow Baron Rollerball with a Wych Elm pencil. The slip feathers used to strengthen the mitres are Somerset Bog Oak.

The price is £60 for the box and £40 for the pen set.
